Mesa Reviews from Tripadvisor

Sensational Food

“This is now my favourite restaurant in Bristol. The slow cooked cauliflower with spices and the steak with mushrooms and creamy potatoes (on the specials board) were two of the tastiest things I’ve ever eaten, anywhere. And even without those, the tortilla, the prawns and the halloumi slaw were all of the very highest quality. Service is also first rate and, for the standard of food on offer, the prices are a steal. A truly outstanding dining experience!”

Great service, lovely decor and atmosphere

This is a new restaurant, owned and ran by the owners of the previous restaurant on this site, Manna, and also the Italian restaurant across the road, Prego.

Highlights: service was excellent, with the staff both knowledgeable and very friendly. The decoration of the place was also very classy and subdued, with some quiet cool background music. The food was reasonably priced (especially with the pre-6:30 20% discount). Good selection of beers and wine.

The food itself was ok. Good chicken and huge well flavoured olives. Average chorizo. Below par Patatas Bravas (salty yet tasteless with little sauce), and an octopus and baked bean dish that tasted a bit of antiseptic. All of the dishes were very salty.

That said, I would go again and would recommend it to others. Hopefully the food will improve as time goes on.

Lovely early evening drinks and nibbles

We popped in for a quiet drink after work and were not disappointed. Lovely wine sold by carafe with beautiful sour dough bread and juicy olives (best I’ve had for a while). Such a lovely little place – thoroughly enjoyed our brief visit.

Fantastic and original

This place is a gem!

From the moment we walked through the door we knew we were onto a winner. The relaxed decor and ambience makes you feel at home instantly. The staff are welcoming, yet allow you to take your time. The menu of food and drinks is brilliantly varied.

Food wise, we could not fault it. Traditional dishes of tapas; a brilliant selection of vegetarian, meat and fish. So authentic you could be mistaken that you were eating them in a taverna in Spain (if not for the British weather).

Great value, take you time; most of all… enjoy.

Definitely worth a visit!

Very nice surprise

We normally go to Prego across the road if we go to this area after work, but this time felt adventurous and dropped in here.

What a pleasant surprise! The service was great, the setting pleasant and the food very very decent.

It may not be owned by Spaniards, or be crazy authentic, but they sure would give Spain run for its money.

Aubergine “chips” were excellent with cumin salt, beetroot type dip with walnuts and goat cheese excellent, gambas very good, as were pimentos del padron.

Decent selection of wines by the glass. Best of all very good value for money.

We will definitely be back and bring friends.

Fabulous food and service – Tapas Restaurants Bristol

Everything about this place is spot on.

From the cocktail and spiced nuts through to the never tasted before desserts we were in food heaven.

Hard to define the food, but it’s beyond tapas in the range of spices and flavours used so skilfully.

Been twice already and will be back regularly now I’ve found this local gem.

Excellent food and very good service – Tapas Restaurants Bristol

Very nice layout for social dining.

The dishes I had had a lovely balance of flavours and you could tell they’d even thought about the textures of the food.

Very good quality for the price.
